What’s Popular: The Hottest Toys for 2017

the hottest toys of 2017 now for Christmas

It’s that time of year again. You know, the time of year when your kids ask for absolutely everything. A commercial comes on the television: I want that for Christmas! You’re riding through Costco: I want that for Christmas! Even the little ones are in on the conspiracy. Tiny people as young as two start eyeing dollhouses and building blocks.

In other posts, I’ve talked about ways that you can reduce the holiday begging and make Christmas more about giving and family. But the truth is that you want your kids to have a good Christmas. I understand.

Every year, there seems to be an unpublished list of the hottest toys on the market. I have no idea who comes up with these toys – it may well be that they’re just the best marketed toys of the year. Regardless, every year there’s a collection of toys you can choose from. Give your kid one of these, and she’s guaranteed to be happy.

So what are the hottest toys of 2017? There are a few you might not expect. Here’s a list of the must-have toys for 2017; start shopping now before they’re sold out!

Mattel Barbie Dreamhorse

Barbie has evolved since the 1950’s when she was “born.” An anatomically impossible thing, Barbie has been the subject of debate – no, even full volume books – for almost 60 years.

Manufacturer Mattel, though it took a while, finally listened to advocates for the women’s rights movement. Barbie is still high-fashion, but she’s no longer just a trophy wife to Ken. Now, Barbie wears many hats: scientist, astronaut, construction worker, doctor, farmer and pilot are just a few of the careers this woman has tried.

Apparently, the hottest Barbie craze now is Barbie the Equestrienne. The Barbie Dreamhorse is on the list of the hottest toys for 2017, and they’re going fast. You can find them at retailers like Walmart for $75- $90.

Num Noms Nail Polish Maker

I mentioned in a previous post that I’ve got two boys; they’re 10 and 8 years old. Finally, three years ago, I had a beautiful little girl to complete the set. Don’t get me wrong, I love my boys fiercely. I’ve learned more about dinosaurs in the past 10 years than most paleontologists learn over a career.

But girls are fun in a different way. Last weekend, my almost-three year old asked me if I would paint her toenails for the first time. I was immensely tickled – you can’t do that with boys.

So, the Num Noms Nail Polish maker, also one of the hottest toys for 2017, makes the top of my list for my daughter this year. She can choose her own color, scent and add glitter, then we can manicure each other all day! This fun little set retails for around $45 at most retailers.

Disney Frozen 12-Volt Ride-On Sleigh

For those of you who have a little outdoor room, check out the Frozen Ride-On Sleigh. Are you tired of Power Wheels that look like monster trucks and police cars? Why not add some Disney magic to your kids’ driving records.

The Disney Frozen 12-Volt Ride-On Sleigh makes our list as one of the hottest toys for 2017. The movie isn’t Disney’s highest grossing, but it’s one of the most well-loved by kids of all ages. Released in 2013, the movie featured Anna and Elsa; as you know, these young women are still the envy of little girls even four years later.

Your little son or daughter can ride in style on this motorized sleigh. It’s only available at Walmart, so be sure to order while supplies last. It can support up to 130 pounds, so your older kids can ride it, too! Heck, maybe Mom can take a ride!

Roarin Tyler, the Playful Tiger

Are you old enough to remember the My Buddy and Kid Sister dolls? Betsy Wetsy? Or maybe I’m dating myself. Regardless of how old you are, you probably remember a hot interactive toy that was popular when you were growing up.

Roarin Tyler, the Playful Tiger is one such toy. He’s pre-programmed to respond to voice and touch; when your child talks to him, he’ll respond. Sometimes with a ROAR!

Tyler comes with a toy chicken that he also likes to play with. Most fun, though, are his movements. He’ll move when you touch him, or even close his eyes when you pet him. Your kids will have fun having a little furry friend to engage with.

Tyler costs, on average, $100 depending on the retailer.

Glowing Race Tracks Set

I’ve mentioned this set in a previous post, but that’s just because I can’t get over how versatile it is. The Glowing Race Tracks Set is appropriate for literally every age group from about 3 to 10. That’s a huge bonus for parents like myself whose kids have a few years between them.

The Glowing Race Tracks Set comes with 240 pieces, including tracks that snap together, then roll up to stow away. The tracks glow in the dark, and the LED light makes them look that much cooler.

The hottest toys for 2017 list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning these tracks, and guess what’s even better? You can get an extension set with more track and an extra car. That means all of your kids can play at the same time.

You can find the Glowing Race Tracks set for $34.99 here.

Hottest Toys of 2017 – for Babies!

Don’t forget the baby! You can always buy your baby clothes and bottles for Christmas, because he won’t know the difference, right? Well, why not give him something fun to do, too.

Your baby will love exploring his fine motor skills and focus with plush animal finger puppets. Or make bath time fun with cute little animal faucet extenders. Or, let your baby show off her dance moves while she plays with a wooden maraca toy?

Baby gifts don’t have to be pricey. In fact, most babies will be happy just to play with a wad of wrapping paper. But make this Christmas special for the littlest of your munchkins, and shop through a few of the hottest baby toys for 2017.
